I really do feel for pregnant mamma’s at this time of year in Perth. The last couple of weeks we’ve had pretty regular 40C days – how do they cope?!
Partaking in a newborn sunset session on a 40C day might not exactly help, but it will certainly take your mind off the heat 🔥 This is exactly what Elaine and her family did with me recently at Perry’s Paddock, part of Yellagonga Regional Park north of Perth. Perry’s Paddock is a gorgeous open space that was originally used for horse racing in the 1920’s, and these days has a number of walking trails, cycling paths, old ruins and space for families to roam around and take beautiful sunset photos.

I had a maternity session with Elaine and her first baby Rosie (a golden Cocker Spaniel) at Perry’s Paddock while she was pregnant. We had a great time, and talked about having a newborn session at Perry’s Paddock after the birth… and here we are!
This session was almost a mini-family session, with mum and dad, grandmum from Ireland and Rosie popping in and out of the photos at various times. It was such a lovely afternoon with a genuinely lovely family – I was non-stop smiles for the rest of the evening. Also – how glam does Elaine look?! I remember my first few weeks post-birth and I certainly wasn’t looking that glam!!

We took a few shots at my favourite spot in the Paddock, with the golden sun setting behind them all. Little Grace was so chilled and slept the whole time – very amenable when you have a full tummy! She lazed about in a little basket, hung out with Rosie, and was held by her parents and grandmother for so many photos. A mini model in the making.
I absolutely loved working with Elaine and her little family on this newborn session at Perry’s Paddock. Have you recently had a tiny bundle of joy yourself, and are in need of some snaps like these? Hit me up and let’s book that newborn session!
